6/16/2023 0 Comments Copyq vs ditto![]() ![]() This allows you to access the individual clips directly, as in the following workshop (ditto – part 2) gezeigt. Make a well-considered decision, because this combination largely determines whether you will integrate Ditto into your everyday life! You can set abbreviations for the ten most recent entries in the clipboard below. Now it's time for customization: Determine a key combination to call up the graphical clipboard, for example WIN+CTRL+Y works quite well because it nudges so nicely at the bottom of the keyboard. Of course, Ditto copies any kind of file. This is about the preview function in the clipboard list. It is worth taking a look at the list of supported file types, even if the most important file formats (RTF, TIFF, etc.) are already activated. But be careful: Passwords could accidentally remain in the archive for a long time! For frequent users, it is also a good idea to uncheck "Minimize list view by shortcut" in order to insert several entries one after the other from the clipboard. The first interesting thing about the “General” tab is the clip storage setting: If you use Ditto intensively, increase the time until entries are deleted. Some password managers like Keepass automatically delete copied data from the clipboard after a certain time – but not from Ditto, of course! By the way: If you just let your browser save passwords without a master password, you don't have to worry about Ditto anyway. So if someone knows that you're running Ditto and knows your defined abbreviation for it, that someone can also see the passwords. Of course, if you copy passwords, they also end up in Ditto - and don't disappear there either. You get used to the convenience of Ditto very quickly and after a few weeks you can hardly imagine living with just one storage space. It's even a Mini Backup: You write an email or a text, simply copy it to the clipboard and you can still find it in Ditto days later. You copy 20 pictures that should be in different folders and insert the appropriate ones using small thumbnails - instead of copying three pictures here and three pictures there one after the other. Part 3: Getting the most out of Ditto's Groups featureĮvil some examples, how Ditto makes everyday life easier: If you collect information, such as links or quotes, you can copy for hours and then later paste them all at once into a document, for example - instead of having to switch to the document after each copied link. But very important: Everything that worked before continues to work! Our Ditto workshops: In the first part, we show the configuration, which also largely determines the later workflow with Ditto – for example, ten elements can be copied one after the other with CTRL+C and pasted elsewhere with CTRL+NUM1, CTRL+NUM2 and so on. More advanced search features, as well as ways to organize your clippings, are currently unavailable. With Ditto you can Replace Windows clipboard or expand and thus access any number of storage spaces, call up a preview and copy content to other computers in the LAN. Using Shift + Command + V, you can access the history and navigate with the right or left arrows to select the item to paste. Every time you copy a text snippet, Flycut stores it in history for you. When Flycut is launched, its icon appears in your menu bar. This way, you can store your clipboard history in an external cloud service and then access it from wherever you want. It also neither supports Windows nor offers specific integrations for the most common IDEs and text editors.Īlthough Flycut does not come with cloud features natively, you can configure it to sync with your Dropbox account. This means that images, videos, and tables are currently not supported. ![]() On the other hand, Flycut allows you to store only text snippets. For this reason, it comes with many hot keys and keyboard shortcuts, which can be customized according to your needs in the preferences panel. ![]() Flycut was designed with developers in mind, and its main focus is on code snippets. Flycut is a clean and simple free open source clipboard app for macOS and iOS that is based on Jumpcut, a minimal clipboard manager for macOS.
